"It's the 10 year anniversary of the release of VISION MAGIC VOYAGE. This album is in my opinion the most cohesive and meticulous music I have ever recorded. Recorded over a span of at least 3 years and obsessively multi tracked and layered, it combines most of my greatest musical loves: American minimalism ala Terry Riley and Philip Glass, acid breakdown era Brian Wilson, alternate universe prog like Magma, avant garde classical/cinematic crossovers such as Enio Moricone and Mike Oldfield, 70's golden age modular synthesizer music like Tomita, traditional folk musics from all over the globe, and maybe most importantly, studio recording trickery of all types.
Recording of this album happened throughout what was for me personally a reality-shaking transition time. I think I can say that focusing on creating this album probably saved my life. I aimed to make an album that was to be listened to with immersion, as a treat for the inner eye as well as the ear. Most of all I aimed to make an album that I personally would want to listen to, executed as closely to what I heard in my mind as possible. It feels weird to say it but I still love listening to this album and I feel I succeeded at recording an album that I wanted to hear out in the world, even if it never ended up that widely heard." -Andy Puls
